The Power of Patience in Prayer

For many of us, prayer can slowly become a place where we bring our plans, our timelines, and our expectations. We ask God to move, but deep down, we still try to control how and when the outcome happens.

But true prayer looks different.

Prayer is not just asking. It is surrender. It is choosing to trust God enough to wait for Him to lead, instead of rushing ahead and leading ourselves.

And that kind of trust is not always easy.

Because sometimes, the answer does not come quickly.

Trusting God in the Waiting

We see this all throughout Scripture. God spoke to Abraham and promised that Isaac would be his heir. But that promise did not come to life overnight. Abraham waited, and waited, and waited. The fulfillment came, but only after a long season of trusting what God had said without seeing it yet.

That same pattern still exists today.

When God Speaks Before We Understand

There are moments when God speaks something clearly, something that feels bigger than what we can currently see or understand.

And in those moments, we are faced with a choice. Do we try to figure out how to make it happen ourselves, or do we continue walking in obedience and trust God to fulfill what He has spoken?

There was a time when God spoke about Life in Abundance training leaders. The picture was clear and powerful, as many as the grains of sand in your hand, so would be the number of leaders trained.

At the time, that did not seem to match reality.

Life in Abundance was focused on serving the poor and vulnerable, helping people experience life in its fullness. There was no clear structure for leadership training, no obvious path for how that word would come to pass.

The question naturally followed. Who are these leaders, and who is going to train them?

Choosing Obedience Over Control

But instead of trying to force an answer, the decision was made to continue in obedience. To keep showing up day by day, week by week, trusting that God watches over His word to fulfill it.

No rushing. No creating strategies just to make something happen. Just faithfulness.

And over time, something began to unfold.

Seeing God’s Faithfulness

Looking back now, it becomes clear that God has fulfilled what He said. Through the Life in Abundance Global Institute, leaders are being trained and equipped. Through training centers, through partnerships with other organizations, and through gatherings like the Global Missions Conference, leaders are being raised up and sent into the nations.

But the fulfillment did not stop there.

The Power of Discipleship and Multiplication

There is another layer that is even more powerful.

The people who were discipled through Life in Abundance have gone on to start their own ministries. They are now raising up leaders of their own. What began as an investment in individuals has multiplied into something far greater than what could have been planned or tracked.

This is the beauty of discipleship.

It does not just add. It multiplies.

And often, the full impact is something you only recognize when you look back. What once felt unclear becomes undeniable. What once required faith becomes visible.

Prayer as a Way of Life

Prayer, in this way, becomes more than a moment. It becomes a posture.

It is the ongoing choice to trust God, even when we do not understand how things will come together. It is the willingness to wait, to be patient, and to remain obedient without needing immediate results.

Because in the waiting, God is still working.

And in His timing, what He has spoken will be fulfilled, often in ways that are bigger, deeper, and more far-reaching than we ever expected.
